Completing the Professional Diploma has given me the confidence and knowledge to really excel in my role and advance the company using the channels and techniques that were covered by the experts in the lecture videos.
Tell us a bit about your experience before the Digital Marketing Institute
After completing my BSc (honors) degree in Agri-food Marketing and Business, I went into a traditional marketing role within the agricultural industry. There, I worked alongside the graphic design team to produce print material for promotional campaigns. It was during this time that I started to learn more about digital marketing and my interest in the field grew more. This led me to my current role at We Are Promotional. Although the industry dynamics were very different and my degree provided me with a good foundation, I knew I needed to advance my knowledge and understanding of Digital Marketing techniques and strategies to help me succeed in this role and to further progress my marketing career.
What influenced your decision to study digital?
I had covered mainly traditional marketing techniques and strategies during my previous studies, and I knew that to be successful in marketing today, you need a good understanding of both. I decided I needed to broaden my studies and look at digital marketing more closely.
Why did you choose to study the Professional Diploma with the Digital Marketing Institute?
My employer and I researched a number of online courses which would be suitable for me, it was a unanimous decision that the Professional Diploma offered by the Digital Marketing Institute was the perfect starting point for my studies in the Digital Field. The course covers a wide amount of subjects and was manageable with my schedule. It also had great reviews from top marketers, and the lecturers themselves had a wealth of knowledge and experience in their specific fields.
Since completing the course in the Digital Marketing Institute, how has your Career progressed?
I'm currently working as the Marketing Executive for We Are Promotional Products. Specifically, I have been working on improving the SEO and PPC campaigns and building a social media strategy, all of which I learned about during my course with the Digital Marketing Institute.
Is there any advice you would give to new students at the Digital Marketing Institute?
I would say to make as many notes as you can during the lectures and to keep them for revisions; they will be very helpful when going back through the lectures. I'd also suggest to do as many of the practical exercises as you can and really try and implement what you are learning through your day-to-day working life, as it will help reinforce the learning, and you will be able to see how you can get results from Digital first-hand. If you are studying remotely online as I did, it is definitely worth allocating a set time every week for the course to avoid getting interrupted or distracted. It's important to take your time to absorb all the information.
In one word, how would you describe your time in the Digital Marketing Institute?
Educational.
