Tell us a bit about your experience before the Digital Marketing Institute
I've a Degree in Graphic and Web Design and a Masters in Computing and Systems Analysis from Ulster University. I lectured in Art and Design for twelve years at the North West College in Derry before founding and managing Nolka Design in 2002.
What influenced your decision to study in the digital field?
As web developers, moving towards digital marketing was a natural progression for our business. In the last few years we introduced a more structured approach to SEO and PPC advertising as a service for our clients, albeit on a basic level.
With the growing interest and developments in Digital Marketing I decided to expand and develop this area of our business and offered a professional service to our client base. The next logical step was to undertake a comprehensive Digital Marketing Course to build my skills and expand my understanding and application of this complex discipline.
Why did you choose to study your course with the Digital Marketing Institute?
Having carried out extensive research on the courses on offer, I decided that the Postgraduate Diploma in Digital Marketing was the ideal choice for me. This course provided real time engagement, not only in terms of the quality of webinars and opportunities to engage with prominent digital industry leaders, but also in its structure as students must develop and implement a genuine marketing plan.
Since completing the course in the Digital Marketing Institute, how has your Career progressed?
Unlike other courses where theory dominates the content and delivery, the Postgraduate Diploma puts you in the driver's seat in terms of understanding, application and engagement.
On completion of the first part of the course, I identified the need for our own business to develop a stronger USP and to focus on segmenting our target audiences. As a consequence of the Postgraduate Diploma in Digital Marketing course we have now established a new and exciting side of our business called The Web Club. Here we provide web design and digital marketing support along with managed hosting to female entrepreneurs. As a result of the focused digital marketing plan I produced on the course, we are already seeing genuine traction and positive results for this exciting new part of our business.
